Need an idea for a great date? Tired of your normal State Street bar scene? Grab a highlighter and keep this paper then because Saturday Night Live’s Seth Meyers, will be hosting a comedy show at the Barrymore Theatre here in Madison, Wis. on October 19.
With jokes ranging from futon hookups to Sarah Palin, the head writer for SNL will be tearing up audiences once again with his self-directed comical genius.
Meyers is known for his witty joke satire that parallels current events, both in the political arena, current affairs, and mainstream Hollywood. His focus currently at SNL, where he is in his eleventh season, is as the solo anchor of “Weekend Update.” His coy smile can easily be caught on screen laughing at his own jokes, something that Meyers is uniquely either praised for or criticized because.
Meyers very recently headlined the 2011 White House Correspondents Association Dinner, receiving rave reviews for his performance. He also hosted the ESPY awards for ESPN.
Tickets can be purchased for $35 online at the Barrymore website along with a modest convenience fee for the 7:30 p.m. showing. If tickets are remaining they may be purchased on location 90 minutes before the show. Considering this is a one night only affair, I wouldn’t put too much trust in tickets remaining. Madison’s Barrymore may seem of adequate size with approximately 750 seats, but this venue hosts some of the hottest shows around in the popular landmark building. The venue commonly sells out quickly after tickets go on sale.
The Barrymore is a nonprofit theatre run by our own local Madisonians and can be found at 2090 Atwood Ave. For more information call (608)241-2345.
