Little Red Wolf is a local bluegrass, folk rock band, comprised of four incredibly talented women. Emily Mills (drummer, vocalist), Kelly Maxwell (guitarist, vocalist), Meghan Rose (guitarist, pianist, vocalist), Laura Detert (bassist, violinist).
Their latest performance was at The Froth House, a cozy little coffee shop on Madison’s West side. With a change from their last appearance at The Shitty Barn, the show was (with the exception of a bass) completely unplugged.
Despite being unplugged, they stayed behind their music, and kept it loud and foot-stompingly rhythmic. Performing in an already tiny coffee shop kept the audience small and familiar with their music. The vocal performances by Maxwell, Mills and Rose were incredibly stunning, from the three harmonizing to each individual’s performances.
A memorable moment in the show was a sneak peak at Rose, Mills and Detert in a Hole cover band by the name of ‘The Heroins,’ which will be performing at Dane101’s Freakin’ Halloweekend Friday at the High Noon Saloon.
In addition to the songs they write and perform, they are also known to do covers. The Lisa Frank Unicorn Experience is a favorite at The House on the Rock as well as The Shitty Barn.
You can find Little Red Wolf on Facebook and Twitter where there are copies of their album “If Only You Were Just Like We Are.” Catch The Heroins as Hole. Watch for Kelly Maxwell in Madison’s Favorite Disco/Funk Family VO5. Get into the loop with these lovely ladies.
