If you are like me and you started off playing video games like “Elder Scrolls Online,” or “Dragon Age.” Then you fell into “Dungeons and Dragons” (DND), then you fell into “Warhammer” and then you finally got into larping.
Larping is short for live action role play – think DND. but in real life. The larp I got to know as Last Hope is a fantasy world similar to other forms of dark ages fantasy anime filled with elves, wolfmen and orcs that battle for resources and control of a dying world.
The larp takes place in the New Lisbon area every week and is based in Baraboo, where in a few acres of forest, noble bands of heroes battle orcs, undead and rival tribes of wolf men.
The world is like games such as “Warhammer” or “The Witcher” with characters, stories, trade, politics and racial rivalries giving breath to the world and its role play. The lore is deep and is written by an incredibly talented nerd known as Ryan and his friends that have been building this world for over decade.
The players who pay a subscription and have adventures get their deeds written down in the stories and history of the world. Other aspects can involve trade and in game economy and race politics.
The game is filled with sieges and military battles with orcs and undead as well as with an amazingly simple fun combat system. Anyone can join these games and role play as a non-player character and do whatever they want for the most part. The setting is big about decorum and creating immersion. The world is filled with adventures and comradery and Last Hope is a welcoming community. I say join this world of fantasy and let your name go down in legend!
