The mission of Clarion Radio is to provide an online public forum for Madison College students who are interested in radio and video broadcasting in both live and recorded formats. Clarion Radio supports students’ right to free expression and values the importance and dialogue and debate within the college community.
Who can join your group: Any Madison College student with an interest in audio or video production can join our group.
When and where does the group meet? Clarion Radio meets every Thursday at 3 p.m. in the Truax Student Life Office, Room B1260. A virtual meeting option is available for those unable to come to campus.
What are some of the events and activities your group hosts throughout the year? Students who participate in our group host live and recorded shows and podcasts throughout the week, based on their availability. Shows can be anywhere from a few minutes to an hour or more. In addition, we help provide music at a variety of Student Life activities throughout the year.
Why should students join this club? Participating in Clarion Radio is a great way to improve your audio and visual production skills as well as your speech and presentation skills. In fact, some of our students have gone on to work for local television and radio stations. We have also won two national awards from the Associated Collegiate Press for podcasts produced by past participants.
Who is the advisor(s) and what’s their email? Doug Kirchberg, [email protected]
Is there anything else you’d like to tell us about your group? Students can tune into us online at http://clarionradio.com. We have openings for show hosts and a news director. Show hosts plan and produce their own show on a weekly or monthly basis. Our news director records a weekly 2 to 3 minute newscast to play on the air. Both roles come with small stipends.
Where can students get more information about your group? You can learn more by visiting the WolfPack Connect App or by contacting our advisor at [email protected].
