Business Professionals of America aims to provide business, information technology and office administration students with the skills, opportunities and confidence to obtain careers after Madison College they can be proud of and excel in.
Who can join your club? This club is for students pursuing careers in accounting, business management, finance, office administration, information technology and office related career fields.
When and where does the club meet? We will meet virtually or in person on Tuesdays at 2:30 pm at least once per month. Rooms may change from meeting to meeting based on availability. Please check WolfPack Connect events and the BPA page for the most up to date information.
What are some of the events and activities your club hosts throughout the year? We have monthly meetings, we look for volunteer opportunities to give back to our community, and social events year-round. In the spring, we have two competitions for students to compete in. Areas of competition include finance, IT, business management, presentation skills, medical billing/coding and many more. In February, there is a State Leadership Conference, and if students qualify (place in the top 5) they have an opportunity to advance to the National Leadership Conference. The majority of travel and hotel costs are covered by the college for the National Conference for qualifying students.
Why should students join this club? Students are guaranteed opportunities to build confidence in skills, learn from other students, make friends and have social opportunities, build their resume and gain valuable leadership skills.
Who is the club advisor(s) and what’s their email? Theresa Laws-Dahl ([email protected]), M. Jeff Quinlan ([email protected]) and Dan O’Brien ([email protected]).
Is there anything else you’d like to tell us about your club? “I have seen companies create positions for individuals with BPA on their resume.” – Dan O’Brien, Advisor to BPA for 20+ years. This direct quote from our advisor Dan O’Brien is enough of a reason to join BPA and be an active member. The friends you make here will serve as contacts and references when you apply for your first jobs out of college. We are a tight community that takes care of each other and helps each other grow professionally, personally and academically.
Where can students get more information about your club? Students can learn more about BPA by contacting myself Mackenzie Carstens ([email protected]), connecting with the club on WolfPack Connect by searching for Business Professionals of America in the groups tab and attending our meetings or events, or by contacting any of the advisors listed in the article.
