Throughout the years, the Madison College Volunteer Center has hosted “Santa’s Wish List” to provide gifts to children through the Madison College Foundation. Students in financial need are invited to apply for gifts for their children or legal dependents this holiday season.
For students who qualify, members of the Madison College community will volunteer to purchase gifts for children to support our student families. The program is for children ages 10 and under. Students can sign up for the program now through Nov. 5 using an online form.
Donations for the program from the Madison College community can help spread warmth during the Christmas season. There are two ways to donate to the program. One way is to take an ornament from the gift giving tree and purchase an item for the child listed and bring it back to Student Life. The other is to visit the Madison College Foundation website and make a financial contribution to the program, enabling the Volunteer Center to purchase gifts on your behalf.
The Clarion posts of Christmas past, provided through the newspaper’s archive, offer a tale regarding the impact each donation makes.
“The name ‘Santa’ conjures up thoughts of magic and fantasy,” Clarion Managing Editor Heidi Adams reported on Nov. 23, 2011, “for some, a visit from Santa isn’t financially possible. Thankfully, the Volunteer Center at Madison College has stepped in to try and bring back some of that holiday magic.”
The Clarion invites all who wish to join the staff of Christmas past, to pay forward to the future through a modest donation to the Madison College Foundation. Your donations have helped the Volunteer Center ensure that each child sees at least one gift at Christmas. Please, if you can, let’s do it again and provide a happy Christmas to a WolfPack child.
