Ellie Rome has been named the new Director of Student Life at Madison College. Rome has spent the past five years as a student advisor. Rome has been serving as a student program advisor since 2018.
Rome is excited about her new position. “I’m still wrapping my mind around it, but I know that I get to work with an amazing team of professional staff to support them as they advise their own student organizations or supervise employees,” she said.
In her student program advisor role, Rome was an advisor for the Student Senate and the National Society Leadership Success program. She also supervised leadership programs in general, including student leader retreats, workshops, and student life leadership certificates, assessing what student leaders were learning as they were leaders in clubs and organizations and in employment roles.
The new role entails considerable oversight of the Student Life office, including supervising the staff and managing all the space and the budget. “I think the most exciting thing is having a role in just creating the student experience and setting a strategic direction for what looks like best to meet student’s needs.”
Additionally, she will work with Phi Theta Kappa as one of the co-advisors, supporting WolfPack Welcome and Orientation and Graduation. “Those are the big things and then trying to make sure everything that Student Life is doing is in line with the college, mission and priorities. And what students want and need.”
Rome holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Art History and French from Lawrence University and a Masters in Education in Student Affairs in Higher Education from Marquette University.
