On Jan. 30, Madison College Peer Health Educators brought color to campus in anticipation of National Wear Red Day, which is the first Friday in February (Feb. 2).
February 2 kicks off American Heart Month. People all across the country wear the color red in order to raise and spread awareness about heart disease in millions of women all over the nation.
Two Peer Health Educators, Josephine Teegawende-Segrado and Yacelis Brube Nicholson, led the event at the Atrium. Participants received goodies and learned about the importance of a healthy heart.
Peer Health Educators work to support, develop, and present a variety of educational programming and materials to engage the diverse Madison College student body on important personal wellness, health-related topics and contributions to a healthier campus environment.
With February being American Heart Month, Teegawende-Segrado and Brube Nicholson are coordinating programs to help bring awareness to heart health by hosting National Wear Red Day, Hands-Only CPR, and the American Red Cross Blood Drive during February.
