Celebrate the Lunar New Year with us! Hosted by Asian American Student Association (AASA) and sponsored by United Common Ground (UCG) and International Cultural Exchange (IE)
In the past, the Lunar New Year was referred to as the Chinese New Year. ”It’s also the Lunar New Year because it is celebrated through different Asian cultures and identities,” said Angela Yang, co-advisor to AASA. “We wanted to make sure that we were being inclusive to all folks that celebrate Lunar New Year.”
The Lunar New Year Celebration on Feb. 15 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. in Truax Room D1630 promises a fantastic time for all ages. Indulge in traditional foods like dumplings, noodles, spring rolls, sesame balls, tea and oranges — each symbolizing prosperity, health and good luck.
Plus, win raffle prizes after visiting activity stations! Enjoy trivia, spin the wheel, make lanterns and snap photos at our photo backdrop. Don’t miss the fun and learning about Lunar New Year traditions!
In addition to activity stations, it is also a fundraiser for AASA. Those who attend will receive a red envelope with chocolate coins inside, reflecting the traditional gift gifting for good luck and prosperity.
