The Interior Design Alliance (IDA) was created for the social and civic activities of interior design program students and those interested in an interior design profession.
The alliance provides networking opportunities with peers and professional designers, providing students with opportunities in leadership and teamwork. The alliance raises awareness for the interior design profession and helps students learn about the wide scope of careers that stem from an interior design degree.
Who can participate? Anyone enrolled in Interior Design courses can join our club.
What’s your next major event or activity? The IDA is fundraising for the upcoming student trip to Minneapolis in May. We are taking a bus and spending three days exploring fabrication plants, factories, showrooms and more. We’ll meet with vendors, representatives and designers to learn more about products and the profession of interior design.
To support this trip, our club has three ongoing fundraising efforts.
- BUCKY BOOKS. Our IDA is selling Bucky Books to help offset students’ trip costs. The fundraising is ongoing – please come to the Interior Design Program area to purchase. The IDA Advisor office is in Truax Room E3851. Please knock and ask for Claire. Books are $35.00 each, and we will accept cash or a check made out to “Madison College IDA Club.”
- WISCO HOME GOODS. Our IDA works with a local small business, Wisco Home Goods, for “shop days.” From March 2 through March 11, Wisco Home Goods is donating a portion of its sales to the IDA when you use codes for online shopping or mention our club in person at checkout. If purchasing candles, please use code (wiscoID24). If purchasing classes, please use code (wiscoID). If purchasing in person, just mention our IDA fundraiser at checkout.
- WOOD CANDLE CO. Our club works with another small local business, Wood Candle Co. (WCC). They will be on campus March 1 and March 5 with a table near the Bookstore and Student Life to sell candles to help support our club. Drop by to smell and purchase on-site. WCC will have a card reader that can process payments or accept cash. Another option is to use the website link: matc.woodcandleco.com to shop online and support our club. Whether shopping online or in-person, we are running a “bulk” discount: 1 for $20, 2 for $35 or 4 for $70.
Our next event is February 29, with a rep from Sherwin Williams coming in to speak about color trends for 2024. After that, we have an “Interior Designer Panel,” where we have six professional designers coming in to speak with students about life after graduation, landing their first jobs, their experience in the industry, etc.
Where and when does the club meet? The IDA hosts events on Thursdays over lunch.
Where can students get more information about your club? We try to be pretty active on WolfPack Connect. Otherwise reach out to the IDA Advisor, Claire Pellegrini at [email protected].
