Madison College hosted a Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) hearing last month to discuss the location, design and environmental impacts of proposed improvements in the I-39/90/94 Corridor Study between Madison and Wisconsin Dells.
The study aims to address safety issues and the aging and outdated infrastructure along this 67-mile segment in Dane, Columbia, Sauk and Juneau counties.
Hosted at the Truax Center, the hearing provided updates on the study’s preferred alternative and opportunities to submit testimony for the official public hearing record.
WisDOT has identified project needs and recommended a preferred alternative. WisDOT and the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) have completed the study’s Draft Environmental Impact Statement (Draft EIS), which is available for review and comment. Those interested can find a copy of the document and appendices at the website: https://tinyurl.com/InterstateEnvironmental.
Project maps and other information were displayed, and the WisDOT staff was available to explain the proposed improvements and answer questions.
The I-39/90/94 Corridor Study between Madison and Wisconsin Dells Presentation covered Mainline Interstate Alternatives, Interchange Alternatives, Flood Minimization Recommendations, Environmental Impacts, Noise Analysis, and Potential Noise Barrier locations.
