On November 7th, the Volunteer Center will be making blankets for Project Linus, providing warmth and comfort for children in hospitals. The event will start at 11 a.m. and will be held in room 203 at the Goodman South Campus.
Students are encouraged to come between or after their classes to relax and learn more about Project Linus. While participating, they can earn service hours, give back to the community, chat with friends and learn more about Project Linus.
Scarlet Martino, the Student Program Advisor of the Volunteer Center, says that while an increase in participation would be great, the event will still be a success if one person decides to help. “Volunteerism not only feels great, brings fulfillment to our lives, but also helps students stand out on resumes and college applications. And we also have a lot of fun! We usually bring food and drinks, and we spend a lot of our time laughing.”
The Volunteer Center has a goal of completing 10 blankets and using all of the provided supplies. “Stop in for however long you have and give it your all,” Marino encourages. “Meet the team and learn just how fun volunteering can be!”
New and returning volunteers are welcome, and even if you can’t participate, you can help by spreading the word.
