This year, Madison College celebrates the fourth annual Hmong New Year Celebration, in the Atrium Mall of the Truax Building, Room D1630 on Saturday, Dec. 7, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
This celebration is free and open to the public and has many planned activities including music, performances, food, vendors, a talent show, activities for kids and more.
The central theme is “Building Bridges: Our Community, Hmong Culture, Our Connection.” Hmong New Year is being organized by Madison College’s Asian American Student Association and Hmong Allies and Affinity Group and cohosted with the Intercultural Exchange, United Common Ground and Student Life.
Some performers include Tseem Me Me, a children’s dance group, competitive dance teams like Ntxhais Tsheej Haj and Dhia Ua Ke, musicians and more. Authentic Hmong cuisines like Nam Vam, Papaya, Hmong sausage and rice will also be present.
The children’s activity area includes coloring books donated by Madison Gas and Electric, and places where kids can make bookmarks and read.
Everyone is invited to participate in a wonderful celebration and learn more about Hmong culture. Bring your family to Hmong New Year!
