A Dark Skies Severe Storm Seminar will be held at Madison College on Saturday, March 8, in Truax Room D1630 from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The seminar is focused on the advancement of knowledge about severe storms, their hazards, public safety, preparedness and awareness.
The event is coordinated by the MidWest Severe Storm Tracking Response Center, a group comprised of members whose primary purpose is to assist in providing early detection of severe weather.
Speakers at the event will include:
- Alex Harington, chief meteorologist of WISC Channel3000.
- Dale Bernstein, President/CEO of MidWest Severe Storm Tracking/Response Center.
- Renee Scovill of Dane County Emergency Management.
- Dr. Brad Pierce, professor of atmospheric and oceanic sciences at UW-Madison.
- Professor Jonathan Martin, UW-Madison Department of Atmospheric and Oceanic Studies.
In addition, the program will include a National Weather Service spotter class. The event is open to the public. Parking is free.
