Madison College women’s basketball coach Angel Whetstone has been named to the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association’s (WBCA) Thirty Under 30 for the 2024-25 season. Whetstone recently completed her second season at the helm of the WolfPack women’s basketball program.
In two years at Madison College, Whetstone has compiled a 12-41 record, which included an impressive ten-win improvement from her first season to the second. The WolfPack went 11-17 and qualified for their first NJCAA Region 4 Division II Tournament. Under Whetstone’s guidance, freshman forward Dani Latz was named Second Team All-Region 4.
According to the WBCA press release, “The WBCA Thirty Under 30 program was created to recognize 30 up-and-coming women’s basketball coaches aged 30 and under at all levels of the game. Each honoree has exemplified their involvement in community service, mentorship and impact on others, professional manner, and attitude and professional association involvement.”
Before arriving at Madison College, Whetstone spent six years coaching in collegiate athletics, including one season as the video coordinator and creative content for the women’s basketball team at NCAA Division I Missouri State University, the director of basketball operations and briefly interim head coach at NCAA Division I SIU-Edwardsville, and was an assistant coach and director of operations at NCAA Division II Rollins College in Winter Park, Florida.
