On April 3, Disability Resource Services and Delta Alpha Pi advisors Anna Nickolai-Spanel and Steve Romenesko inducted 17 students into the Delta Alpha Phi International Honor Society (DAPi). DAPi is an academic honor society founded to recognize high-achieving students with disabilities in a college setting that celebrates and supports academic achievement, leadership and advocacy for post-secondary students with disabilities.
At the induction ceremony, students recited the DAPi pledge and celebrated their achievements with Disability Resource Services staff and loved ones. They received a certificate of achievement, a lapel pin, and, for graduating students, blue and yellow honor cords. Afterward, they connected with fellow DAPi members at a social.
“It’s really exciting to see students with disabilities come together in community with others to celebrate their accomplishments and have a moment of joy,” said Romenesko. “As a disabled staff member, I love helping to create this opportunity for our students.”
This year’s DAPi inductees were: Jade Baker, Jonas Busacker, Maggie Groshan, Alyssa Jaehnke, Margaret Joof, Cameron Lins, Mary Joan Nastri, Corey E. Nelson, Danielle Nobles-Hillard, Sea O’Hara, Christine Olson, Nanette Ruppel, Trina Ann Seger, Astoria Thomas, Hannah Turner, Kongmeng Vang, Brent West, Ella Yanke.
