In light of the recent Voter ID Law controversy in the state, the Government Accountability Board will have a presence at the Dec. 8 Student Senate meeting.
The GAB has a speaker’s bureau in place to inform people of what the new requirements are. The GAB is making staff members available to make presentations about the new law and how groups and their members can help make sure everyone who needs a photo ID receives one, said Nathaniel E. Robinson of the GAB in a press release this past September.
Since there have been significant changes to the law, there can be a tremendous amount of confusion thus leading to a longer wait time at the polls, said Jennifer Johnson, Student Senate President.
“The Student Senate’s goal going into the spring semester is to ensure that students know of these changes and what they need to know to do in order to vote in February,” Johnson said.
The Student Senate is encouraging students and faculty to attend the meeting on Dec. 8 in Room 207 at 5 p.m.
