Writer’s Life Lecture Series
On Feb. 16, Madison College will hold the inaugural event in the “Writer’s Life” Lecture Series at the Downtown campus. Panelists will include local novelists Michelle Wildgen and Dwight Allen. Comedian Preacher Moss
Comedian Preacher Moss will be performing in the Truax cafeteria on Feb. 17 at 11:30. Moss will be stopping at Madison College on his “End of Racism” tour. Moss is a comedian and a writer who focuses on racism and poverty in America. The Program and Activities Council and Student Life will put on the event.
Alternative Spring Break Trips
The Volunteer Center and Student Life provide opportunities for students to participate in service trips to various locations in the U.S.. This year, there will be two different trips offered during spring break from March 12-16. Groups will be traveling to either Washington D.C. or New York City. The service trips are forming right now.
Both trips will focus on service relative to hunger, homelessness, persons living with chronic health conditions and urban issues. The deadline to sign up for one of these trips is Feb. 15. Go to matcmadison.edu/alternative-break-service-trip-program to sign up.
VA’s Wellness Program
The VA’s wellness program offers free courses designed to help individuals with health and wellness goals. The classes include Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction, Tai Chi Fundamentals, Mindful Warrior Yoga, Mindful Eating and Mindful Men.
Classes will be on Feb. 23 from Noon-1:30 or 1:30-3:30.
