Congressman Pocan to return to Truax Campus for presentation
This Friday, Feb. 21, U.S. congressman Mark Pocan will make his second appearance at Madison College. He will be appearing with Kathleen Falk, former Dane County Executive at the Truax Health Education building in Room 311 from Noon until 1 p.m.
They will be speaking on the Affordable Care Act and will hold a press conference. Students are encouraged to attend the event. Falk is the Region V director for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Region V includes Wisconsin and other states in the Midwest.
Yahara Journal accepts items for student art show
Submissions for the Yahara Journal student art show are Feb. 26. Submissions can be dropped off at the Student Life office at Truax in room C1420 or at the Downtown campus in room D237. Students may submit up to five pieces. All works must be framed, mounted or otherwise ready for display. They must be the original work of the person making the submission. The overall best in show winner will be awarded $100.
Spring Volunteer Fair
The Volunteer Center will be holding their Spring Volunteer Fair on Feb. 26 from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. in the Truax Student Lounge. Several local volunteer organizations will be on hand throughout the event.
International Festival Downtown
Join the Program and Activities Council for snacks at the Downtown Campus prior to the International Festival at the Overture Center on Feb. 22. The event and snacks will be free. There will be a bus departing from Truax at 12:30 p.m. for the Downtown campus. To return to the Truax campus, there will be a bus departing Downtown at 3:30 p.m.
February Math Club meeting
The next Math Club meeting, entitled Random Permutations and Suitcases, will take place Feb. 28 at 3:30 p.m. in Truax room A2021. Benedek Valko, the director of the Wisconsin Mathematics, Engineering and Science Talent Search, will lead the discussion.
Madison College Transfer Fair
The Spring Transfer Fair will take place on Feb. 27 in the Truax Gateway from 10 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. Students interested in transferring will have the opportunity to meet with representatives from UW System schools as well as Marquette, Viterbo and others.
