Play Mario Kart Wii in the WolfPack Den: A Mario Kart Wii tournament will be held in the WolfPack Den at Truax on March 6 from 1:30 to 5:30 p.m. The event is open to students and faculty. Bring a Wii remote, Wii Wheel, classic controller or GameCube controller. Money prizes will be given to winners.
Yahara Journal Art Show: The annual Yahara Journal Art Show opening will take place at The Gallery this Friday, March 7. Hours are 3 to 6 p.m.
Math Club March meeting: The Math Club will meet this Friday, March 7 at 3:30 p.m. in room A2021 of the Truax campus. John Koker, dean of arts and sciences at UW-Oshkosh will lead the discussion called “The check’s in the Mail.” Koker has led Math Club discussions at the college previously, including “Super-quadratics and Heroic Ideas Concerning Polynomial Equations,” “Odd Pie Fights,” “You Took How Many? NIM Type Games,” “a2 + b2 Says Who?” and “Two Men Thinking About Math Recreations.”
Fashion Marketing career fair: The Fashion Marketing program will host a career fair and forum at Truax in room A2114 this Friday, March 7. Students will have the opportunity to learn about what it takes to succeed in fashion and retailing. There will also be lessons on interview techniques and professional ethics as well. Information regarding internships and career opportunities will be covered as well.
Madison College course sign up: Course sign up at the college is set to begin. Students may sign up for classes for fall and summer semesters beginning on March 11.
Scheduled Blackboard maintenance: Blackboard will be unavailable from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. on March 16 for required maintenance. Students are encouraged to plan accordingly with any classwork that may require the use of Blackboard.
Fitness Center spring break hours: The Truax Fitness Center will have limited hours during spring break between March 17 and 21. The fitness center office will be open from 10:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 3:45-6 p.m. on March 17 and 19. On March 18, 20 and 21, the office will be open from 6:45-9 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The weight room, cardio room and racquetball courts will be open from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. and 4-6 p.m. on March 17 and March 19. On March 18, 20 and 21, those parts of the facility will be open from 7:15-9 a.m. and 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The swimming and lap pools will be open from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 4-6 p.m. on March 17 and 19. On March 18, 20 and 21, the pools will be open from 7:15-9 a.m. and 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The Master Swim will be available on March 18 and 20 from 6-7:15 a.m. Aqua Fitness will be available March 18 and 20 from 11:30 a.m. to 12:25 p.m. There will be no group fitness classes during the week. The Downtown Fitness Center will be closed all week.
New yoga session: The Truax Fitness Center is offering a second session of yoga classes this semester. The session starts the week of March 24. The classes are Monday and Wednesday at 11:30 a.m. and Tuesday and Thursday at 4 p.m. To sign up for a session, go to Madisoncollege.edu/fhr/groups.
