Public Safety report for Feb. 4
February 3, 2015
Public Safety Officers respond to many calls for service and we communicate our activities to the college community. Here are some of the notable incidents from this past month.
On Jan. 22, Public Safety Officers responded to a pedestrian who was struck by a vehicle while in the crosswalk on Hoffman Street. Madison Police and Paramedics arrived and Paramedics transported the injured pedestrian to a nearby hospital.
This was the second incident in a week; we urge students to be extremely cautious when entering and utilizing crosswalks around campus, as well as when driving to and from campus. Be sure to always look twice and yield to pedestrians.
On Jan. 21, Public Safety Officers responded to a person who was unconscious in a men’s restroom stall. The situation escalated quickly when witnesses observed that he had an uncapped needle in his hands and he awoke. Madison Police and Madison Paramedics arrived and were able stabilize the person and take the subject into custody. Suspected heroin was found on the subject’s person. The subject was transported by Madison Paramedics and Police, charges to follow.
