Various groups plan protest events for inauguration day

Madison has several events going on to protest or take action related to Donald Trump’s inauguration on Friday, Jan. 20. All of these events are free and open to the public. Details are as follows:

The Peregrine Forum to organize and mobilize against Trump – Thursday, Jan. 19 at 6:30 p.m., Madison Central Library (201 W. Mifflin St.). Visit the Peregrine Forum on Facebook or call 608-284-9082 for more information.

Resist Trump-Occupy Inauguration Rally – Friday, Jan. 20 at noon, Library Mall at UW-Madison (700 Block of State St.). This event is part of a national student walkout. Email [email protected] with questions.

Fight for Economic Justice in Trump’s America Rally – Saturday, Jan. 28 at 2:00 p.m. outside Gordon Commons at UW-Madison (770 W. Dayton St.). The Student Labor Action Coalition will be calling for a $15 minimum wage. Event details can be found on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/events/1812385985698596/.

Leading Locally: 100 Days of Turning Ideas Into Action – Saturday, Jan. 21 at 9 a.m., 316 W. Washington Ave. This meeting will set a 100 day agenda for civic action in Madison. Event details can be found on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/events/1128332973950301/.

Television coverage of the inauguration will start as early as 6 a.m. on many of the major news networks. The swearing-in ceremony will be presided by Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts at 11 a.m. CST.
