Public Safety

Sgt. Joe Steffen & Dispatcher David Manthey

Public Safety Officers respond to many calls for service and we communicate our activities to the college community.  Here are some of the notable incidents from the past couple weeks.

On April 11, Officers responded to a complaint of stalking behavior. A female student and her instructor reported that a male has been following the female to her vehicle on multiple occasions and made unusual comments to her. Officers made contact with the alleged suspect who admitted to some of the allegations. Please call Public Safety if you witness or experience stalking or harassing behavior on campus.

On April 11, Public Safety received a complaint of a man viewing pornographic material and masturbating in the Downtown Campus cafeteria area. Public Safety quickly located the suspect and identified him as he was attempting to leave the building. The suspect is not a current student at Madison College as was in fact banned from all campuses prior to this incident. During the contact, it was discovered that the suspect had an active warrant out for his arrest. He was then taken into custody and transported to the Dane County Jail by the Madison Police Department.
