Public Safety Officers respond to many calls for service and we communicate our activities to the college community. Here are some of the notable incidents from the past few weeks:
On Oct. 31, Public Safety along with the State Capitol Police, contacted a man near the Downtown campus for damaging vehicles parked on the street. The suspect was subsequently arrested by the Capitol Police Department and taken to the Dane County Jail. The suspect was not a student.
On Nov. 1, Public Safety responded to a disturbance at the Truax gymnasium. An argument between multiple people took place in which threats of violence were made. All suspects have been identified. Please report any threatening behavior to Public Safety immediately.
On Nov. 6, Public Safety received a stalking complaint at the Truax Campus. The suspect is not a student. Both the suspect and victim know each other. The Madison Police Department are investigating this incident. If you feel you are the victim of harassing behavior, please contact Public Safety at 608-245-2222. On Nov. 15, Public Safety along with the Madison Police Department responded to a three-vehicle crash at Anderson St. and Hoffman St. Officers directed traffic while the vehicles were towed. Nobody was injured.
On Nov. 15, Public Safety along with the Madison Police Department responded to a theft of a wallet at the Downtown Campus. The victim was sitting on a hallway bench and left her belongings within a few feet. The suspect reportedly snuck up next to her, grabbed her wallet and ran. The suspect left campus immediately. The Madison Police are investigating this incident. Please remember not to leave valuable items out in the open.
