Libraries fostering connection: we are here for you
April 22, 2020
This year, National Library Week is being celebrated from April 19th-25th. This is a yearly event which celebrates libraries of all kinds, our connections with those we serve and the work of librarians and other library staff. This year, our connection with you, our students, looks very different. Our libraries no longer bustle with the activity we are all used to. Instead, we are dispersed across our large Madison College district, each working from our own desk, bed, or kitchen table. Despite the challenges we’ve all faced this spring, the library and Student Achievement Center staff would like you to know that we are still here for you, and are committed to helping you complete the semester, and moving on with your goals. Here are the ways you can still connect with us, no matter where you are!
Meet with a Librarian
Our library staff is available to chat with you for quick questions. We can help you with everything from finding an article for your research paper, to troubleshooting the technology you’re using for remote learning. Our chat service is available Monday through Thursday from 7:30 a.m. – 9:00 p.m., Friday from 7:30 a.m. -4:30 p.m., Saturday from 9:00 a.m. -1:00 p.m. and Sunday from 1:00 p.m.-5:00 p.m. Visit our website to connect to us via chat. You can also submit a question to be answered via email or text, or if you prefer, you can still call! Our phone lines are staffed and we’re ready to help. If you have a more in-depth research question or technology issue, you can also book a 30-minute appointment with a librarian in advance.
Talk to a Tutor
Our tutoring services are ongoing and still strong! You can easily chat with a tutor or S.A.C. staff member for help. We are online Monday through Thursday from 7:30 a.m.-7:00 p.m., Friday from 7:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m., Saturday from 8:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m. and Sunday from 12:00 p.m.-5:00 p.m. From the Student Achievement Center homepage, click the “Talk to a Tutor” button to connect with a tutor for quick questions. You can also book a 30-minute tutoring appointment ahead of time. We’re using WebEx and other software to connect with you, so you can see the familiar faces of our staff.
Be sure to follow the Libraries and Student Achievement Centers on social media for fun content during National Library Week and through the rest of the semester. We’ve got your back, and wish you the best during this time and always!
