The best way to avoid a ticket, according to Public Safety Specialist Officer Nick Tatro, is to arrive on campus at least 15 minutes early. “If your class starts at 9 a.m., I wouldn’t shoot to get here at 8:55 a.m.,” he said.
- Students who are running late tend to drive too fast, park along curves or fire lanes and create their own spots, Tatro said.
- Most accidents happen when people go too fast and try to zip into a spot.
Parking is free: Students pay a fee that covers the cost of parking as part of their tuition, but they need to register their vehicle by visiting the Public Safety website.
- Parking maps are available in public safety and on the website for each campus.
- At the Truax campus, there are multiple lots including an overflow lot by the baseball diamond.
Other parking services: Public Safety is available on campus 24/7 and can assist with vehicle lockouts, jumpstarts and safety and injury escorts.
