National Library Week is just around the corner, and we’re gearing up for a week-long celebration at Madison College Libraries. From April 7th to April 13th, 2024, we’re inviting the entire Madison College community to join us in exploring the diverse resources and services we offer.
Libraries are more than just repositories of books—they’re vibrant hubs for connection, learning, and passion. Here at Madison College Libraries, we’ve curated programs and activities to engage library-goers. There’s truly something for everyone.
To make this year’s celebration even more special, we have planned a series of events throughout the week:
• Monday, April 8, 12 p.m. to 1 p.m.: Pop-Up Library at Truax Cafeteria. Check out National Book Award Finalists titles and meet librarians.
• Tuesday, April 9, 11 a.m. to 12 p.m.: Spanish Reader’s Day at Goodman South Library. Join librarian Erika for a bilingual Storytime.
• Wednesday, April 10: Treats at all Madison College Libraries. Stop into a library for cookies, coffee and more.
• Thursday, April 11, starting at 10 a.m.: Coverless Puzzle Challenge at all Madison College Libraries. The library to complete a puzzle first wins a prize.
• Friday, April 12: Faculty Friend of the Library. Join us as we celebrate a faculty member who has been a great partner for the library.
Beyond the festivities, Madison College Libraries play a pivotal role in the college community. We offer resources that contribute to the growth and prosperity of our community. Our services, including chat help, one-on-one research appointments and digital backpack workshops, are designed to empower you to reach your educational goals.
No matter where you are in life’s journey — training for a new career, preparing to transfer to a 4-year university or enjoying a class in retirement — Madison College Libraries are here to support you. We provide the resources you need to succeed and a welcoming community where you can connect with other students and find inspiration to complete your course work.
As we celebrate National Library Week, let’s take a moment to appreciate the history behind this annual event. First sponsored in 1958 by the American Library Association, National Library Week is a time to acknowledge the invaluable contributions of libraries nationwide and celebrate their crucial role in promoting literacy, lifelong learning and community engagement.
