Hosted by Hmong Affinity & Allies Group (HAAG), College Access Resource Night was held at Goodman South Campus last month. Culture & Climate Coordinator Asia Xiong greeted participants, and each was given a backpack with a folder of information.
The event was well attended and once the tables with filled, the HAAG served food. Prizes for the MG&E Bingo game were displayed upfront.
The room was full and festive. I sat with a fifth grader whose mother prepared delectable cuisine. This was an all-ages event. Education begins with the youngest among us.
Within the folder there was a brochure on Early College as well as fliers about Career & Employment Services, Scholars of Promise, Early Childhood Education Classes, WorkSmart Network, Gateway to College as well as Hmong New Year.
After food was consumed and bingo was won, a presentation took place which included Scholars of Promise, AVID/TOPS, WorkSmart and Admissions.
There were several tables with information as well as other goodies.
