If you’re the kind of person who sleeps, eats and works through spring break each year, you might just be in the minority.
Out of nine student interviewees, six said they would be travelling outside of the Madison area for at least a portion of spring break.
Kaya Mantz, a student employee in Student Life, said “I’m going to Florida with my mother and my baby sister… We’re going to Naples where my grandparents have their retirement winter house.”
Other students are going to Alabama, New Orleans and Arizona to feel the southern sun on their thirsty pale skin.
Two students said they were participating in volunteer events that would take them out of Madison to represent the college elsewhere.
Out of the three students who said they are staying in town, only one said they would be picking up additional hours at work. The other two students cited household tasks or bucket list items like visiting Olbrich Gardens.
Anna Reekie said she would be organizing her wardrobe to make room for more clothes.
While spring break is shaping up to look like a movie for some of the students interviewed, it is important to note that interviewees were a convenience sample and likely not representative of the whole.
For many, spring break is just that –a break.
Ready to enjoy spring break
