Golf team places 4th in own invite

The Madison College golf team played in its fourth tournament of the fall season and had its best finish of the year, placing fourth out of six teams on Sept. 8.
Wet conditions forced the Madison College Invitational to be moved from the Yahara Hills Golf Course to Hawks Landing.
The WolfPack finished with a team score of 357, just 10 strokes behind the 347 score of eventual winner Southwest Wisconsin Technical College.
The College of DuPage placed sec- ond with a score of 349, while Highland Community College was third with a 353.
Madison College’s top two golfers both shot 84, Joe Cayer and Carter Simon. Cayer was awarded fourth- place and Simon fifth-place based on a tiebreaker.
Harry Ernstmeyer shot a 94 for the WolfPack, while Alex Kurtz scored a 95 and Cole Salzman finished with a 105.
Madison College’s next match is Sept. 14 and Sept. 15 in the Skyhawk Classic. The first day of the event will be at the Lake Carroll Golf Course in Lanark, Ill., while the second day will be at Rock River Golf Course in Rock Falls, Ill.
The golf team will have three other matches this season, playing at the Midwest Elite Classic on Sept. 21 in Prairie Du Chien, the Oak Ridge Classic on Sept. 28 in LaSalle, Ill., and the College of DuPage Invitational on Sept. 30 in Wheaton, Ill.
