Five Madison College fall sports athletes earned spots on their respective NJCAA Region 4 Division II All-Region Teams. Three were honored from the women’s soccer team, one from the men’s soccer team and one from the volleyball team.
Sophomores Kierstin McHugh, Samantha Petroski and Savi Pursley helped lead the WolfPack women’s soccer team to an 8-4-3 record and earned a spot on the All-Region Team. McHugh and Pursley became two-time all-region recipients, while Petroski made the team for the first time.
McHugh led Madison College with seven goals, seven assists and 21 total points. The former Madison Memorial athlete finished her career ranked 12th in career goals with 12 and ninth in all-time assists with eight.
Pursley had five goals, seven assists and 17 points through nine matches before a season-ending leg injury. The former Madison Memorial athlete is tied for 13th in all-time assists and tied for 20th in career points.
Petroski, a UW-Oshkosh transfer, tallied four goals, one assist and nine total points in her lone season with the WolfPack.
For the men’s soccer team, Gabe Voung was named to the 2023 NJCAA Region 4 Division II All-Region Team as an honorable mention selection. A graduate of Sun Prairie High School, he helped the WolfPack to a 6-5-4 record this fall.
Voung led Madison College in every offensive statistical category with 10 goals, five assists and 25 total points. An NJCAA All-American last year, he finished his career with a school record 35 goals.
Volleyball freshman Courtney Gorum earned a spot on the 2023 NJCAA Region 4 Division II All-Region Team. The middle blocker and right side hitter helped guide the WolfPack to a 23-10 record and a runner-up finish in the Region 4 Midwest District B Tournament.
Gorum, a transfer from the University of Wisconsin, had 441 kills this fall, leaving her two kills shy of the Madison College single-season record and putting her tenth on the all-time kills list. She also led the WolfPack with a .308 attack percentage that ranks as the 13th best single season efficiency in program history.
Gorum also recorded 33 aces and was second on the team with 239 digs and 60.0 blocks.
She had 27 kills in her second career match, setting a new single-match record at Madison College. Gorum had 20 or more kills in four matches this season.
As one of the top six vote-getters in Region 4, Gorum also receives a NJCAA All-American nomination. The NJCAA All-American teams will be announced during the final week of November.
