With three games remaining until the start of winter break, the Madison College men’s basketball team stands at 4-4 overall following a close loss to Prairie State College on Dec. 2.
Madison College fell, 73-72, after a rally from six points down in the final two minutes fell just short.
The game was back and forth, with nine lead changes and neither team held more than a six-point lead at any point.
Tyler Mitchell led the WolfPack with 24 points, hitting 9 of the 19 shots he took from the field and adding five free throws.
Romelle Bell scored 15 points and had five assists and six rebounds for Madison College. Justin Pleasant added 13 points and had a team-high 14 rebounds for the WolfPack.
Next up for Madison College is a game at home against Loras College JV on Dec. 7. The WolfPack then travels to Kishwaukee College on Dec. 9 and hosts Waubonsee Community College on Dec. 18.
Madison College will wrap up December with a pair of games in the Wisconsin Dells Holiday Classic, playing Bay College on Dec. 29 and Lake Michigan College on Dec. 30 in Just-A-Game Fieldhouse.
Madison College 66, Harper College 51
Four players scored in double figures to lead Madison College to a 66-51 win over Region 4 foe Harper College on Nov. 30 in Palatine, Ill.
Mitchell scored 14 points to lead the WolfPack, while Antoine Coleman had 12, Bell had 11 and Pleasant had 10. Coleman and Bell both had double-figure rebounds as well grabbing 13 and 12 respectively.
Madison College had a 10-point lead by halftime and maintained its lead throughout the second half despite shooting a season-low 38.8% from the field on 26 of 67 shooting. Second-chance points due to offensive rebounds provided the WolfPack with a boost, outscoring Harper, 17-7.
Rochester CTC 79, Madison College 73
Madison College nearly completed a comeback from a 15-point deficit against sixth-ranked Rochester CTC, but lost, 79-73, at home on Nov. 21.
Four players scored in double figures as the WolfPack battled to within four points with less than three minutes remaining. Deante Luster led the team with 19 points, while Peter Gustafson scored 17. Mitchell added 15, and Bell had 13.
Carl Sandburg College 84, Madison College 68
Carl Sandburg College was able to pull out to a 20 point lead late in the first half and then never let Madison College get closer than 14 points.
The WolfPack eventually lost, 84-68, at home on Nov. 18.
Luster led Madison College with 16 points, while Mason Kleinsmith scored 14 points and Pleasant added 13.
