A fast start and a stifling defense in the final quarter helped coach Angel Whetstone record her first coaching win as the Madison College’s women’s basketball team posted a 55-32 victory over Western Technical College at home on Nov. 17.
Madison College jumped out to a 20-6 lead in the first quarter, then held Western to one point in the final quarter.
Cayla Golackson led the WolfPack with 17 points, while Kayla Staveness and Emily Rottier-Douangmala both scored 11 points.
Since that game, the WolfPack has lost four straight games, dropping their record to 1-8 overall.
Prairie State College 84, Madison College 41
Praire State outscored Madison College 27-8 to open the game and extended its lead throughout the rest of the game to beat the WolfPack, 84-41, on Dec. 2. Staveness netted 17 points and was the only WolfPack player in double figures.
Rochester CTC 97, Madison College 49
Rochester opened the game taking a 17 point lead after the first quarter and led the rest of the way, beating Madison College, 97-49, on Nov. 21. Golackson led Madison College with 17 points, while Staveness added 13.
Carl Sandburg College 92, Madison College 50
A rough patch of shooting in the first half put Madison College down early in a 92-50 loss to Carl Sandburg Colelge on Nov. 18. The WolfPack was 6 of 25 on field goals in the first half.
Staveness scored 17 points to lead Madison College, while Kaylee Anzalone added 10 and Tazhia Aune had 9.
