Madison College sophomore Courtney Gorum became the volleyball team’s all-time leader in kills during the second set of a 3-0 loss to Moraine Valley Community College on Oct. 15. Gorum passed Paige Hostetler, who set the previous record of 695 kills during the 2018 season.
With a team-high 16 kills in the match, Gorum became the first player in school history to surpass 700 kills. She now has 703 kills on the season, with seven matches and post-season play remaining.
The match itself saw Madison College, ranked No. 25, and Moraine Valley, ranked No. 19, battle back and forth all night.
Moraine Valley won the first set, 29-27, after rallying from a 20-13 deficit. The second set was tied at 11, before Moraine Valley went on a big run to close out the set, 25-14. The final set saw Madison College jump out to a 15-9 lead before falling, 26-24.
Gorum had 11 digs, two aces and a block to go with her 16 kills. Addyson McHugh added 11 kills and nine digs. Setter Brooke Anderson had 34 assists, her fifth consecutive match with more than 30.
After playing in the Rock Valley College Triangular on Oct. 18, Madison College returns home for a match against South Suburban College on Oct. 21. The WolfPack closes out the season by traveling to the Iowa Central Tournament on Oct. 25 and Oct. 26.

Madison College defeated Carl Sandburg College, 25-21, 25-20, and, 25-16, at home on Oct. 11. Gorum posted 18 kills and 14 digs to earn her nineth double-double of the season. She also added three blocks.
McHugh pick up her second straight double-double with 10 kills and 14 digs. Anderson added 38 assists, two blocks and an ace. Cora Webster finished with 10 digs and a career-best four aces.
Sauk Valley Community College 3, Madison College 1
A match up with No. 11 ranked Sauk Valley Community College at home on Oct. 11 was close, but end with Madison College falling, 26-24, 25-19, 17-25, and 25-22.
Gorum and McHugh led the team with 15 kills each. Gorum added 15 digs to lead the team, while McHugh had 11. Anderson posted a career-best 40 assists and 10 digs.
Madison College 3, Kankakee Community College 0
Madison College rolled to a 25-14, 25-8, 25-19 victory over Kankakee Community College at home Oct. 8 on teacher-staff appreciation night.
Gorum posted 18 kills to lead Madison College, while adding four aces and nine digs. McHugh had 11 kills, while Anderson added 35 assists and nine digs.
Madison College 3, Oakton College 0
A sweep of Oakton Community College, 25-17, 25-11, and 25-18, at home on Oct. 3 ended a rare four-match losing streak for Madison College. The WolfPack finished the match with 35 kills and a .342 efficiency rating on offense.
Gorum led the way with 12 kills, while MaKayla Weisner added six kills. Faith Radecke led the team with four aces in the match, while MacKenzie Thom had 12 digs.
