Eight athletes from Madison College received All-Region post-season honors for their efforts during the fall season. The women’s soccer team led the way with four athletes earning recognition, while men’s soccer and women’s volleyball team both had two honorees.
Women’s soccer
First year players Suzy Hinds Cruz, Maddie Cadd and Grace Brown, as well as sophomore Jerzey Ladwig received the postseason accolades after guiding the WolfPack to a 12-3-1 season and a spot in the semifinals of the region tournament.
A midfielder for the WolfPack, Hinds Cruz led the team with 14 goals and five assists, and 33 total points. The goals sit tied for the fifth-best single-season mark in program history. She finished the year ranked in the top 10 of the region in both goals and total points.
Cadd, a defender, started 14 of 16 matches and was one of four players on the team to log more than 1,200 minutes. She had a goal and one assist during the season for three total points. In addition, was part of a defensive effort the held opposing teams to 0.75 goals per match. Other teams struggled to generate shots with just 5.8 shots per game.
Brown, a midfielder, finished second on the team with 11 goals and four assists. The goals and points totals place her tenth for most in a single season in team history. Brown scored a hat trick against Triton College on Oct. 16.
Ladwig, also a midfielder, scored four goals and had two assists. The Sun Prairie native and transfer from NCAA Division II UW-Parkside, netted both goals in the 2-1 regular season finale at Rochester Community and Technical College and scored the only goal in a 1-0 victory over Waubonsee Community College in the Region 4 Tournament.
Men’s soccer
Two players from the Madison College men’s soccer team made the 2024 All-Region 4 Team. Sophomore Carter Uhlmann was named to the second team and freshman Geo Prado earned third team honors.
The duo helped lead the WolfPack to a 10-5-2 season record and the Region 4 Tournament quarterfinals.
A forward, Uhlmann scored six goal and dished out five assists. He finishes his career at Madison College with nine goals, eight assists and 26 total points over the 31 matches he appeared in.
Prado, a defender, started 11 of the 15 matches he appeared in and logged over 1,000 minutes this past season. He was part of a defensive unit the held opponents to 0.94 goals per match and 93 fewer shots on goal than the WolfPack offense.
Volleyball
Madison College sophomores Courtney Gorum and Addyson McHugh were named to the All-Region Team for their play this fall. The first team honor for Gorum was her second straight all-region recognition, while McHugh earned her first. They helped the WolfPack post a 19-14 season record and reach the Region 4 Tournament semifinals.
Gorum, an outside hitter and middle blocker, led Madison College in kills, finishing with the fourth-best single-season kills total of 376 and a 3.88 kills per set average. She also led the WolfPack with 328 digs, tying for the 25th-best mark in a single season.
For her career at Madison College, Gorum shattered the all-time kills record of 695, and now sits alone atop the list with 817. As one of the top six vote-getters in Region 4, Gorum also receives a NJCAA All-American nomination for the second consecutive season.
McHugh, an outside and right-side hitter, racked up 334 kills this fall, which ranks tied for the fifth-best single season in program history. She also ranked third in aces with 34, fourth in digs with 206, and fourth in blocks with 30. She finished her WolfPack career tied for third all-time with 616 kills.
