The Madison College women’s basketball team suffered its third-straight loss on Jan. 18, falling to Kankakee Community College, 70-52.
A slow start was too much for Madison College to overcome. The WolfPack fell behind, 21-8, in the first quarter and trailed by double figures throughout much of the rest of the game.
Aubrey Maas led Madison College with 22 points, hitting 8 of 15 shots including 3 of 5 from three-point range.
Dani Latz and Hannah Solie were the next highest scorers for the WolfPack, with eight points each.
Following the loss, Madison College stands at 6-9 overall. The team has upcoming home games against Marshalltown Community College on Jan. 13 at 5:30 p.m. and against Illinois Valley Community College on Jan. 25 at 1 p.m.
Bryant & Stratton College 71, Madison College 63
Madison College entered the fourth quarter with a three-point lead, but Bryant and Stratton went on a 17-2 run and upended the WolfPack, 71-63 on Jan. 15.
The game was close until the final period, featuring six ties and 10 lead changes. Maass scored a career high 25 points to lead Madison College, netting 20 of those points in the third quarter. Dani Latz had 21 points and 17 rebounds to post her 12 double-double of the season.
Black Hawk College 72, Madison College 64
Dani Latz had one of the best games of her career for Madison College, but the WolfPack fell just short in a 72-64 loss against Black Hawk College on Jan. 11.
Latz had career-best numbers in points with 20, rebounds with 19 and blocks with six. She hit 10 of the 21 shots she took during the game. Keelyn Zwirschitz added 13 points and six rebounds, while Aubrey Maass had 12 points and Hannah Solie added 10.
Madison College 72, Harper College 62
A fast start helped propel Madison College to its fifth win of the season, a 72-62 victory over Harper College at Palatine, Illinois, on Jan. 8. Madison College jumped out to a 19-9 first quarter lead and stayed ahead the rest of the way.
Zwirschitz led the team with 21 points and added six rebounds, one assist and one steal. Maas scored 20 points and had six rebounds, four steals and two assists. Also in double figures were Solie and Latz, who added 11 and 10 points.
Madison College 96, Harry S. Truman College 54
Madison College ended a three-game losing streak in grand fashion, defeating Harry S. Truman College, 96-54, at home on Jan. 4 and posting its highest scoring game of the season.
Five players scored in double figures for the WolfPack, led by Latz and Solie who both scored 19 points. Latz added 14 rebounds, seven assists and five steals. In addition, Maass scored 18 points, Zwirschitz had 16 and Jaida Gaskins chipped in 15.
Oakton College 81, Madison College 60
Undefeated Oakton College posted an 81-60 victory over Madison College at Des Plaines, Illinois, on Dec. 21. Madison College kept things close until the final quarter, when Oakton extended its 10-point lead.
Four players scored in double figures for the WolfPack, led by Latz, who had 13 points and 13 rebounds. Maass and Zwirschitz finished with 12 points, while Gaskin added 10.
Triton College 78, Madison College 56
Visiting Triton College took a first quarter lead and slowly pulled away for a 78-56 victory over Madison College on Dec. 17. Madison College trailed 29-21 at halftime and was unable to close the gap.
Latz led Madison College with 15 points, 13 rebounds and five assists. Gaskin also scored in double figures with 14 points.
