The seventh annual Embrace Fashion Show was a look at the fashions presented by Madison College’s fashion marketing students. This year’s theme was innovative future.
Students strutted down the runway in glorious clothes, which the students styled and sewed themselves. The outfits were upcycled, thrifted or even recreated from things in the students’ own closets.
On the runway, there were many creative pieces and outfits. One outfit was of a “utopian future.” Megan Stickel wore a black skirt with spikes and grommets and a leather corset, styled and created by her. Another was of a “star-less crown.” Que’Shana wore a black romper, silver jacket, thigh-high silver boots and a silver hat, styled by Trendsetter Shavonne Chandler.
Middleton and La Follete High School students also participated in the show. One participant was Mackenzi Cortez. Styled by Emily Bender, her outfit was titled “sustainable streetwear.” Her look was inspired by Harajuku fashion in Tokyo. She wore a mesh top, black jeans and converse shoes.
The show featured the looks and ideas of Madison College students and was at times modeled and styled separately. At the end of the show, the fashion marketing students thanked Betty Hurd for her 23 years of dedication as the director of the Fashion Marketing Program, as she is retiring next month.
Collaborating with her on this year’s show were fashion marketing instructors and co-directors Lindsay Leno and Caroline German.
