After a 51-point victory over UW-Stevens Point at Marshfield, the Madison College men’s basketball team heads into December with a 7-1 record and riding a six-game winning streak.
The early season success has Madison College ranked No. 24 in the latest NJCAA Division II poll, their first national ranking in Division II and their first in any poll in more than 10 years.
Madison College hit a season-high 64.7 percent of its shots in the 112-61 victory over UW-Stevens Point at Marshfield on Nov. 26. The WolfPack was also hot behind the 3-point line, sinking 14 of 27 (52 percent) of their shots from beyond the arc.
Carson McCormick led the team with 27 points, hitting seven 3-pointers in the game. Ryen Jones added 15 points, which featured five slam dunks.
Cullen Rauls and Will Dietrich both scored 12 points in the game, while Ceegan Rauls and Amir Ford both came off the bench to score 10 points.
Madison College’s next game will be against Prairie State College at home at 2 p.m. on Dec. 7.
Madison College 70, Kishwaukee College 64
Despite falling behind by 14 points halfway through the first half, Madison College rallied back to post a 70-64 victory over Kishwaukee College on Nov. 23.
Madison College took its first lead 10 minutes into the second half, then hit 11 of 12 free throws over the final six minutes to secure the win. Cullen Rauls led the team with 17 points, while George Whaley IV scored 16 points. Ryen Jones was the only other WolfPack player in double figures with 12 points.
Madison College 105, Black Hawk Technical College 69
Six players scored in double figures at Madison College dominated Black Hawk Technical College, 105-69, at home on Nov. 20. An 11-point run to open the second half pushed the WolfPack lead to 20 points, and the game never got any closer.
Ford had his first double-double for Madison College, scoring 18 points and grabbing 10 rebounds, while Whaley followed close behind with 17 points. Jevon Campbell scored a career high 15 points, converting on all six of his shots.
Madison College 84, Carl Sandburg College 72
A balanced scoring attack was the key for Madison College in its 84-72 victory over Carl Sandburg College on Nov. 16.
Five players scored in double figures for the WolfPack, led by 20 points from JP Pleasant and 19 from Cullen Rauls. Ryen Jones netted 15 points, while Carson McCormick and George Whaley IV both scored 12.
Madison College 91, College of Lake County 64
Carson McCormick hit a school-record nine 3-pointers to lead Madison College past College of Lake County, 91-64, at home on Nov. 13. He finished with a career-high 31 points, going 9 of 14 from behind the arc.
Madison College led from start to finish, taking a 42-33 halftime lead. Jones scored 13 points, while Rauls added 12 and were the only other WolfPack players in double figures.
