![Meet one of Public Safety’s most recent hires, Reece Lehman, the newest full-time patrol officer. Reece comes to Madison College from UW-Madison Security and is currently assigned to the evening patrol shift.](https://www.theonlineclarion.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/Reece.jpg)
A couple of friendly reminders to the campus community regarding some trends our officers have been noticing while out on patrol.
• Tobacco products are prohibited on campus property. This includes cigarettes and vaping devices. Smoking and vaping is prohibited on campus property. Campus community members are asked to move to the city sidewalk if they wish to smoke or vape. Individuals violating the smoking policy are subject to a citation.
• Please make sure to park your vehicle in marked parking stalls only. Public Safety has noticed vehicles parked in the grass, along the curbs as well as in pickup/drop off areas. Be sure to feed the parking meter if you plan on parking in a metered parking stall to avoid receiving a parking citation.
• If you do not have a handicapped placard or license plate, you may not park in one of the handicapped parking stalls. These are reserved for campus community members that need them due to a disability. Vehicles parked in a handicapped parking stall without the proper placard or license plate are subject to a citation.
A reminder that both smoking violations and parking violations are subject to a citation. Public Safety officers do not enjoy issuing citations, and avoid it when they can, but it is important these violations are addressed for the health, safety and wellbeing of all campus visitors.
